Daily Container Flow – Optimisation in Action
Every business day, we handle the daily container flow between the Kanaalweg in Sint-Amands Puurs and the Container Terminal TCT in Willebroek. This translates into an average of 9 trips per day per truck, carried out by one driver. The drive of about 20 minutes per one-way trip, ensures a highly efficient operation where we move tonnes of goods every day. With an average load of 18 tonnes per container, we are able to smoothly complete all these trips within a 12-hour time frame.
Environmentally Conscious Logistics: A Joint Mission
Sustainability is at the heart of our cooperation with De Mouterij - Alken Maes. Thanks to our optimal planning and the use of green energy, we achieve impressive savings in CO² emissions. With 9 trips per day per truck, we save 23,760 kilometres annually and avoid emitting no less than 21,384 kg of CO² per truck. To illustrate: to absorb this amount of CO², 1,050 trees would have to grow for a year!
Our E-trucks play a crucial role in this. These trucks are charged with green energy: the solar panels on the roof of our headquarter in Breendonk provide enough energy so that the E-trucks can be charged daily. This way, we contribute to the reduction of CO2 emissions from transport, a mission we pursue together with De Mouterij - Alken-Maes.
Impact in Numbers
Our cooperation with De Mouterij - Alken-Maes covers more than 50% of their total container traffic, accounting for around 4,300 trips per year. This equates to a distance of 48,000 kilometres per year, or covering the route between Brussels and Paris no less than 150 times. Through our efficient working methods and commitment to sustainability, we realise a huge impact on the environment and show that logistics and sustainability can go hand in hand.
